MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin announced Wednesday that redshirt junior goaltender Megan Miller will join the women's hockey program beginning next season. She has spent the past three years at Boston College, which finished the 2013-14 campaign fifth in the final USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll.
After redshirting her first year at BC, the Long Grove, Illinois, native appeared in 16 games for the Eagles, posting a 9-2-3 career record.
During the 2013-14 season, Miller went 4-0-1 in six appearances, recording a 2.11 goals-against average and .910 save percentage.
The 5-7 netminder registered a 5-2-2 record in 10 games played during her redshirt freshman campaign. Miller allowed 2.39 goals-per game, while stopping 90.5 percent of the shots she faced.
Prior to her collegiate career, Miller won four consecutive Illinois state championships with the Chicago Mission, along with a U16 state championship in Michigan. In 2011 she was a member of the U18 Team USA World Championship squad.
Miller played for two years at the North American Hockey Academy (NAHA), where she amassed an impressive 73-15-10 overall record. She also played one club season at Belle Tire in the Midwest Elite Hockey League (MWEHL). Miller notched a 61-9-4 record and .940 goals against average during the 2008-09 season playing in the MWEHL.
Megan's brother Adam is a junior goaltender on the Wisconsin men's hockey team. The Millers become the third brother-sister duo to play hockey at UW, joining Adam and Nikki Burish and current Badgers Chase and Kim Drake.
Wisconsin opens the 2014-15 season on the road at Lindenwood on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. The Badgers' first home game is on Oct. 10 against Ohio State.
