As part of its year-end look back, UW Athletics profiles 10 candidates this week leading up to the announcement of the 2012-13 Athlete of the Year awards this Friday. Today, we profile Athlete of the Year candidate Brianna Decker of the women's hockey team.

MADISON, Wis. -- One of the most decorated players in Wisconsin women's hockey history, Brianna Decker capped her career by earning All-America honors for the third straight season in 2012-13.

A native of Dousman, Wis., Decker paced the Badgers with 29 goals, which ranked seventh in the nation, and tallied 26 assists. She was also named to the All-WCHA First Team for the third-consecutive season and was a top-10 finalist for the 2013 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award.

Decker was named the team's Offensive Player of the Year after recording at least one point in 26 of UW's 35 games, and finished tied for 10th in the nation with 55 points.

She recorded five game-winning goals, including an unassisted goal in overtime to give UW a 3-2 triumph over Minnesota Duluth on Senior Day on Feb. 17.

Decker was honored as the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 28 after notching seven points off four goals and three assists in a weekend series sweep against St. Cloud State.

She also scored her eighth career hat trick in a 7-2 triumph against Lindenwood on October 5.

The 2012 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award recipient, Decker finished her career ranked eighth all-time in the NCAA for career points with 244, seventh for career goals with 115 and 15th for career assists with 129. She became the 17th player in NCAA history to record 200 career points.

Decker leaves Wisconsin as the career leader in plus/minus with +175, and is tied for first in career short-handed goals with eight. She ranks second in career game-winning goals with 25, points with 244, shots with 834 and goals with 114.

On the international stage, Decker captained the U.S. Women's Under-22 National Team to a three-game sweep against Canada and helped the senior women's team claim gold at both the 2012 Four Nations Cup and 2013 Women's World Championship.

Decker is one of nine players at the U.S. National Team Selection Camp with UW ties, joining former players Jessie Vetter, Megan Duggan, Erika Lawler, Hilary Knight, Brooke Ammerman, along with current student-athletes Courtney Burke, Alex Rigsby and incoming freshman Annie Pankowski. The selection camp, held in Lake Placid, N.Y., takes place June 18-23, and the U.S. Women's National Team will be announced on June 24.
