MADISON, Wis. – Women’s hockey sophomore goaltender Becca Ruegsegger was named to the Capital One Academic All-America At-Large third team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.
The Lakewood, Colo., native holds a 4.0 GPA in African Languages & Literature. This year Ruegsegger has also claimed academic honors from the Big Ten, Western Collegiate Hockey Association and NCAA.
On the ice for the Badgers, Ruegsegger logged 11 games in between the pipes with a 10-1-0 record. She posted a .915 save percentage average and a 1.50 goals against average as the UW women’s hockey team went on to claim the national title.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
