Feb. 20, 2012

MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin women's hockey team will host first round action of the 2012 WCHA Playoffs. The tournament format is a best-of-three series; therefore, the games will take place Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24 and 25, with the possibility of a third game on Sunday, Feb. 26, if necessary. Top-seeded Wisconsin will take on the No. 8 seed Minnesota State.

Puck drop for Friday's and Saturday's games is set for 7 p.m. CT. Sunday's game will begin at 4 p.m. CT, if needed. All games will be played at the Eagle's Nest Ice Arena located at 103 Lincoln Street in Verona, Wis.

Tickets are now on sale and may be purchased in person at the McGinnis Family Athletic Ticket Office located in Kellner Hall at Camp Randall Stadium, over the phone 1-800-GO-BADGERS or online at UWBadgers.com.

Due to high demand and capacity limitations, the Athletic Ticket Office anticipates a sell out for these games. We strongly recommend you purchase your tickets in advance. If available, any remaining tickets will be sold at the door on the day of the game for cash only.

Only tickets for Friday and Saturday will be available for advance purchase. If a third playoff game on Sunday is necessary, tickets will be available for purchase immediately following the game on Saturday in person at the Eagle's Nest and, if available, at the door one hour prior to face-off.

Ticket prices will be $5 for adults and $2 for UW students, senior citizens (55+) and youths (age 2-17). Season tickets, promotional coupons, sports passes or Red Cards are not valid for admission to WCHA tournament games. All tickets are general admission. Children under the age of 2 do not need a ticket.

The winner of the first round playoff series will advance to the WCHA Final Face Off at Amsoil Arena on March 2-3 in Duluth, Minn.
