MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin women’s hockey team has looked to “Ice Hunger” this winter by hosting a series of games in which fans can donate non-perishable food items to the Second Harvest Foodbank.
The fourth and final “Ice Hunger” game is this Saturday, Feb. 16. The Badgers will face Minnesota-Duluth at LaBahn Arena; the puck will drop at 7 p.m. While Saturday’s game is a sell-out, those already holding game tickets are encouraged to attend and participate.
The team encourages fans to help fight hunger by attending the game and donating a food item. The first 300 fans that bring a non-perishable food item for donation will receive a Wisconsin Hockey drawstring backpack and will be entered in a raffle to win a $50 Best Buy gift card. In addition, Becker Law Offices will donate one dollar for every fan in attendance at the four “Ice Hunger” games, with the cumulative check presented after Saturday’s game.
The Wisconsin Athletic Department has a successful partnership with Becker Law Office and Second Harvest Foodbank. Through the first three “Ice Hunger” games, over 1,000 pounds of food has been collected with over 6,000 people attending. These figures equate to over 19,000 meals for Madison-area families.
