MADISON, Wis. – The Badgers have already broken several program records on the ice this season, and Wisconsin fans have the chance deliver a record-breaking performance of their own – in the stands – at this weekend’s Fill the Bowl game.

Three attendance records stand to be broken as the Badgers invite fans to fill the entire lower bowl of the Kohl Center for Saturday’s game against Minnesota. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.

The Badgers’ last Fill the Bowl game drew 5,377 fans, a previous NCAA women’s hockey single-game attendance record. Jinelle Zaugg scored two goals and Jessie Vetter made 18 saves as Wisconsin blanked St. Cloud State, 4-0 on Jan. 26, 2008.

The second record UW has its sights on is the Kohl Center women’s hockey attendance record. In last season’s exhibition game against Team USA on Jan. 5, 2010, a record 6,085 fans showed their support of women’s hockey and in doing so set a new women’s hockey attendance record at the Kohl Center.

Finally, with fans’ help, the Badgers hope to break the current NCAA women’s hockey attendance record this weekend. Last year’s Culver’s Camp Randall Hockey Classic saw a record 8,263 fans attend the women’s game to break the previous NCAA women’s hockey attendance high of 6,889. UW skated to a 6-1 win over Bemidji State in the outdoor game held Feb. 6, 2010.

Currently the second-highest attendance total, the record of 6,889 stood for less than one month as it was set at the first outdoor game in college women’s hockey history when New Hampshire defeated Northeastern, 5-3, in the Sun Life Frozen Fenway doubleheader Jan. 8, 2010.

The current NCAA women’s hockey attendance record for an indoor non-exhibition game is 5,377 fans, which still stands from the Badgers’ previous Fill the Bowl game.

Wisconsin opens this weekend’s series against Minnesota on Friday at 7 p.m. The teams will conclude the series at 7 p.m. Saturday night for Fill the Bowl.

All fans will receive admission to Fill the Bowl for only $1. For every person in attendance at the game, Becker Law Office will donate $1 to Second Harvest Foodbank, and UW will collect non-perishable food items to be donated as well.

All UW students will receive free admission to Fill the Bowl with a valid UW student ID, and free t-shirts courtesy of the Big Ten Network will be available for students while supplies last.

The Badgers also welcome all club, middle and high school hockey programs to come out for Team Day. All teams must submit a roster to Katie Kruse (khkruse@wisc.edu) by Jan. 26, 2011 to receive free admission.
