MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin women’s hockey team will look to “Ice Hunger” this winter by hosting a series of games in which fans can donate non-perishable food items to the Second Harvest Foodbank.
The third of four “Ice Hunger” games is this Sunday, Jan. 27. The Badgers will face No. 1-ranked Minnesota at LaBahn Arena, with the puck dropping at 2 p.m. While Sunday’s game is a sellout, those already holding game tickets are encouraged to attend and participate.
Fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation. In exchange, fans will receive a Wisconsin Hockey computer flash drive and will be entered in a raffle to win a $50 Best Buy gift card. In addition, Becker Law Offices will donate $1 for every fan in attendance at the four “Ice Hunger” games, with the cumulative check presented at the final game.
After this weekend, the remaining “Ice Hunger” game is slated for Feb. 16. Fans will receive a drawstring backpack for their donation. So, be sure to collect the final item!
To date, the first two “Ice Hunger” events have raised over 12,000 meals.
The Wisconsin Athletic Department has a successful partnership with Becker Law Office and Second Harvest Foodbank. Last year, an NCAA-record, 12,402 fans attended the “Fill the Bowl” event and raised over $12,000 and 1,500 pounds of food for Madison-area families.
