MADISON, Wis. -- Assisting on half of Wisconsin's goals in the weekend sweep of No. 9 Ohio State, Courtney Burke was named WCHA Rookie of the Week on Wednesday.

The Albany, N.Y., native, has now recorded at least one point in the past four games, helping propel the Badgers to second place in the conference standings.

Burke started the weekend off with two assists in UW's 4-1 win over OSU on Friday, Jan. 11. The defenseman tallied both of her assists in the third period of play, one during a penalty kill and one during a power play.

Following up her performance from the night before, Burke registered an assist on the opening goal in Saturday's contest. Firing a shot from the point during the game's first power play, Burke's shot was redirected in front by Madison Packer to give the Badgers an early lead.

In addition to assisting one of the Badgers' short-handed goals, she helped the UW penalty-kill unit go seven-for-eight on the weekend.

The weekly honor is the first of Burke's career and the fifth for the Badgers this season. It also marks the first rookie of the week award that has gone to a Wisconsin student-athlete since Katy Josephs earned the honor on Nov. 30, 2011.
