TROY, N.Y. -- The University of Wisconsin women's hockey team avoided an upset attempt by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Friday night, as the Badgers used a two-goal rally at the start of the third period to claim a 4-3 win.

 Fast Facts
• Prévost  becomes 17th Badger with 100 career points
Brianna Decker and Brooke Ammerman record one goal, one assist each
Alex Rigsby makes 23 saves for 12th win of the season.

Wisconsin (12-1-0; 7-1-0-0 WCHA) found itself down early as RPI (3-8-4; 1-3-2 ECAC) opened the scoring in the first six minutes of the game. Capitalizing on a Badger turnover, Eleeza Cox gave the Engineers an early 1-0 lead.

Bouncing back, Carolyne Prévost scored her ninth goal of the season during the Badgers' first power play of the game.

Brianna Decker dumped the puck into the left corner of the RPI zone and Brooke Ammerman took control of the puck along the goal line. With a quick look across the goal line, Ammerman found Prévost sitting at the back door for a one-timer goal.

The goal gave Prévost her 100th career point as a Badger.

Prévost would return the favor to Ammerman in the second period when the two entered the RPI zone on a two-on-one.

After some back-and-forth passing, Ammerman slipped the puck past RPI's goaltender Kelly O'Brien for her 10th goal of the season.

However, the Engineers took advantage of their next two scoring opportunities as both Jill Vandergrift and Jordan Smelker scored on the power play to put RPI up, 3-2, at the end of the second period.

With a one-goal deficit to start the period, Wisconsin looked to answer back early, and two RPI penalties in the first five minutes would help the Badgers do just that.

Decker found the back of the net on the second power-play of the period to tie the game at 3-3. The play started after Hilary Knight and Stefanie McKeough set Decker up from the blue line.

Less than a minute later, at the 5:20 mark, the three freshman forwards for Wisconsin combined for the eventual game winner.

From the corner in the RPI end, Karley Sylvester sent the puck around behind the net to Katy Josephs, who circled the puck in the opposite corner before dishing it off to Blayre Turnbull in the slot.

Turnbull didn't waste the chance and put the puck past O'Brien to give the Badgers the lead.

Wisconsin held on, killing off two penalties in the final 10 minutes, to secure its 12th win of the season. Alex Rigsby made 23 saves in net for the Badgers, while only conceding one even-strength goal.
