Nichole Whetter completed her first season as team manager for the University of Wisconsin women's hockey team in 2010-11. Whetter, a Cary, Ill., native, is majoring in Accounting and Marketing with a Spanish certificate.
Before coming to Wisconsin, Whetter attended Prairie Ridge High School in Crystal Lake, Ill., where she graduated in the top 10 percent of her class. She was an AP Scholar and received all-state honors for choir as a sophomore, junior and senior.
Whetter participated in choir throughout her elementary school, middle school and high school years. She acted in the high school musical as a senior and was involved with church youth groups throughout high school. Whetter played hockey from second until 10th grade while living in Fargo, N.D., Coral Springs, Fla., and Cary, Ill.
Whetter has spent time volunteering as a Spanish-speaking childcare volunteer for LitNetwork in Madison and at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Ill. She has also volunteered as a Spanish-speaking volunteer with the Willow Creek Care Center/Food pantry in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
Whetter is the daughter of Steve and Valerie Whetter. She has one younger brother, Mike. In her free time, she enjoys learning different accents, beatboxing and watching Glee. Her favorite sport outside of hockey is baseball.
