• State 2 Q-SCHOOL RESULTS
VENICE, Fla. -- Former Wisconsin women's golfer Carly Werwie advanced to the final stage of the LPGA Qualifying School event Oct. 13 on the Plantation Golf and Country Club Bobcat Course in Venice, Fla. Werwie shot a 7-over par 75-75-73-72--295 to tie for 63rd in Stage II at the LPGA Qualifying School.
Werwie, a four-year starter for the Badgers from 2008-11, finished in the top 60 in the first stage among the 227 players who advanced after the first cut. She was tied for 15th after the first two rounds of stage 1 when the field was narrowed from 227 players to 80 players (top-70 with ties).
The Kenosha, Wis., native completed her UW career ranked fourth in career scoring averaging 77.35 strokes per round. She is tied for the school records for 54 holes with a 213 at the Badger Invitational in 2010. She is also tied for UW's 72-hole record with a 74-69-77-76--296 when she finished tied for seventh at the 2010 Big Ten Championship.
By finishing among the top 70 among 155 golfers in Stage II Qualifying, Werwie will advance into the final round of qualifying. The final stage of Q-school will be contested over 90 holes Nov. 28-Dec. 2, on both the Champions and Legends courses at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla. Top finishers in the final stage will earn 2013 LPGA membership (total number of cards TBD) and all others who make the cut will receive Symetra Tour status.
