MADISON, Wis. -- Senior Kris Yoo earned her first Big Ten Conference weekly golf honor when she tied the school record and led the Badgers to a record-setting first place finish at the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C., Sept. 20-22.
Yoo averaged a 1-under par 71.0 for the three rounds and shot a career-best 3-under 73-70-70--213 to set the Lady Paladin 54-hole individual record. The 213 tied three other school-record holders, most recently Lindsay Danielson in October of 2012
The Badgers were crowned tournament champion with a 1-over par 290-294-281--865. After shooting the fifth best 36-hole score in school history on Saturday with an 8-over par 290-294--584, UW closed out the competition on Sunday with a third-round score of 281 to set the school and tournament 18 and 54-hole record. The previous school record of 870 was set in 2009 at the Challlenge of Onion Creek in Austin, Tex. The 281 bested a 282 shot at the Badger Invitational in 2010.
Yoo, from Schaumburg, Ill., led the Badgers last season with 74.96 strokes per round which ranks second for a season all-time. Her best finish of last season came at the BYU Entrada Classic, March 18-19, in which she shot a season-best 1-over par 71-72-74--217 to finish runner-up in the individual standings. She matched that score and tied for 11th at the NCAA Regional. Her 1-over par 72-80-65--217 included a school and course-record 65.
She earned second team All-Big Ten honors last season, and was Academic All-Big Ten selection for a second year.
