MADISON, Wis. - Sophomore-to-be Brooke Ferrell continues her great summer golf season as the low amateur at the Ohio Women's Open. Ferrell won a four-hole playoff to secure the amateur crown after shooting a 1-over par 145 at the Eagle Rock Golf Club August 14-15 in Defiance, Ohio. She tied for 11th overall in the 144-person field.
The tournament was won by Seul-Ki Park with a 6-under par 138. Ferrell's sister, Allyssa, tied for second with a 141.
Ferrell has had success in earlier tournaments. She placed second with a 5-under par 68-69--137 in the 36-hole Wisconsin Women's State Golf Open held June 17-18 at par 71 Maple Bluff Country Club in Madison, Wis.
The Edgerton, Wis., native completed her inaugural season at UW setting the UW freshman scoring record with her 75.34 strokes per round. She competed in all 11 events for the Badgers and was the top finisher at the Big Ten Championship placing fourth overall with a 5-over par 78-75-68--221.
