NORMAN, Okla. -- There is something about the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club that Kris Yoo likes. Playing her second round in the 37th U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championships at the OU golf course, Yoo shot a 68, just off the course record of 65 she established in May during the NCAA Central Regional.

Yoo, who qualified for the tournament along with teammate Alexis Nelson, shot a 78 to open the tournament, and a 68 in the second round. Yoo is tied for 14th with a 2-over par 78-68--146.

Nelson tied for 95th with a 13-over 78-79--157 and did not make the cut to the top 60 players.

In match play, Yoo went on to beat Mallory Viera, Howey In The Hills, Fla., 5 & 3 in the round of 64. She defeated Allisen Corpuz, Honolulu, Hawaii, 5 & 4 in the round of 32. Yoo lost in the round of 16 to Doris Chen of Bradenton, Fla., but it took 19 holes. Chen went on to face Lauren Diaz-Yi of Thousand Oaks, Calif. in the match play finals where Chen lost 10 & 9.

This past season, Yoo led the Badgers to just their second NCAA Championships appearance. She had the second-best national finish by a Badger with her 42-over par 75-74-73-77--299, which is three strokes off her 72-hole personal best. Allie Blomquist finished tied for 18th with a 296 when she played as an individual in the 2001 NCAA Championship. Yoo led the team with a 74.95 season stroke average which ranks second all-time.
