Wisconsin looks to defend title at BYU Entrada Classic

MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women’s golf team tees off a busy two weeks of tournaments on Monday-Tuesday, March 17-18, when the Badgers travel to St. George, Utah, for the BYU Entrada Classic.

The 54-hole event will be held on the par 72, 6,015-yard Entrada course at Snow Canyon Country Club. The first two rounds of the 54-hole event will be played on Monday and the final 18-holes will tee off on Tuesday. Both days begin with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. CT.

The Badgers will compete against a 16-team field, including Brigham Young, California, Colorado State, Dixie State, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas State, Minnesota, Montana, North Texas, SUU, Texas State, UVU, Weber State and Wyoming.

UW returns to the event as the reigning champions, after winning the 2013 BYU Entrada Classic with a 24-over par 296-293-299--888.

Individually, redshirt junior Kimberly Dinh earned her first career individual title at last year’s event with an even-par 72-70-74--216, and will play to defend her crown this year.

Senior Kris Yoo finished in second place last season with a 1-over par 71-72-74--217 and will join Dinh on the roster.

Traveling with Dinh and Yoo are freshman Michelle Cheung, senior Alyssa Elliott, freshman Brooke Ferrell, freshman Aya Johnson, redshirt senior Alexis Nelson and junior Aaren Ziegler.

UW is coming off of a record-setting performance at the Westbrook Spring Invitational on Feb. 22-24. The Badgers set the school 54-hole record with a 5-under par 286-288-285--859.

Wisconsin heads into the event with an 18-hole season average of 293.28. The Badgers are on-pace to break UW’s 18-hole average record of 302.93 (9,694 strokes/32 rounds) set in 2009-10.

After the BYU Entrada Classic, Wisconsin heads to John’s Island, S.C., on March 24-25 for the Briar’s Creek Invitational at the Briar’s Creek Golf Club.

UW claimed a 13th-place finish at the event last season with a 75-over par 321-315-303--939.

Competing for Wisconsin at the invitational will be redshirt juniors Abby Busler and Dana Voss, freshman Lexi Greytak, Cheung, Dinh, Elliott, Ferrell, Johnson, Nelson, Yoo and Ziegler.
