PEORIA, Ariz. -- The University of Wisconsin women’s golf team competes in its first tournament of spring when it hosts the Westbrook Spring Invitational, Feb. 24-25, in Peoria, Ariz., at the Westbrook Village Golf Course.
Play begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun at Sunday, followed by a 1 p.m. shotgun. The final 18 holes will be played Monday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
At last year’s tournament, Nelson tied UW’s all-time 54-hole school record (68-72-73=213) and led the way as the Badgers finished their with fifth-best team 54-hole score to place eighth (295-296-292=883). Illinois took home the team title, shooting an 11-under par 288-282-283=853.
This year’s Westbrook Spring Invitational field includes No. 1 Washington, No. 13 Arkansas, No. 20 Texas Tech, No. 39 Mississippi State, No. 42 Indiana, Colorado State, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas State, Nebraska and Washington State.
Washington enters the spring ranked No. 1 by Golfweek, while also boasting the nation’s No. 1-ranked individual golfer, SooBin Kim. Kim enters ranked No. 1 by Golfstat.com and No. 2 by Golfweek, after posting a win, second-place and third-place finish over the fall season.
Playing for the Badgers are sophomore Abby Busler of Oregon, Wis., senior Lindsay Danielson of Osceola, Wis., sophomore Kimberly Dinh of Midland, Mich., junior Alexis Nelson of Mason, Ohio, junior Kris Yoo of Schaumburg, Ill., Aaren Ziegler of Canby, Ore. and sophomore Dana Voss of West Chester, Pa.
