The Wisconsin women's golf team has adopted a new charity in its community service family, "With Wings and a Halo." This organization, co-founded by Chris and Paul Gilbertson of Waunakee, Wis., reaches out to children in a traumatic situation with books.

The main program under the With Wings and a Halo R.E.A.C.H. umbrella is called the B.A.C.K. packets program. This initiative is centered around providing 10-12 various children's books in a red backpack to officers and first responders for them to give to children (one book at a time) that they see at the scene of an accident, fire or domestic disturbance.

Backpacks are currently in 4,000-5,000 squad cars in all 72 counties in Wisconsin. Expansion is underway in Illinois, Minnesota, New York, Ohio and Indiana.

Members of the UW golf team sorted books, applied labels and stuffed backpacks for the organization at its warehouse.
