LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Wisconsin women's golf team closed out the fall season in style on Tuesday, finishing in seventh place at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Badgers had the fourth best 18-hole team score of the day with a 292, improving from 11th to seventh with a 14-over par 298-292--590. It ties the seventh best 36-hole score by a Badger team. The 54-hole tournament was shortened to 36 holes after high winds forced the cancellation of round two on Monday.

Wisconsin wraps up its successful fall season with four top-10 team finishes which included a first place finish Sept. 22 at the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C.

San Diego State claimed the team title with a 3-over par 579. Host team UNLV tied for second place with UCF and Texas Tech with a 5-over par 581.

San Diego State's Sirene Blair won the individual title after tallying a 6-under par 71-67--138. UCF's Ashley Holder took second with a 4-under par 73-67--140, while Texas Tech's Elin Arvidsson placed third with a 3-under par 70-71--141.

Senior Alexis Nelson led the Badgers in the tournament with a season-best even- par 71-73--144 to place eighth.

Also for Wisconsin, senior Kris Yoo tied for 20th with a 3-over par 74-73--147, while freshman Brooke Ferrell tied for 26th place after tallying a 4-over par 73-75--148.

Junior Kimberly Dinh tied for 58th with a 9-over par 80-73--153 and senior Alyssa Elliott earned her season-best 36-hole score, tying for 67th with a 10-over par 81-73--154.

Competing as an individual, UW freshman Michelle Cheung recorded a career 36-hole best with a 14-over par 81-77--158.

The Badgers return to competition on Feb. 9-11 for their 2014 spring season opener. Wisconsin will travel to Sorrento, Fla. for the UCF Challenge.
