FRENCH LICK, Ind. -- After two rounds, the Wisconsin women’s golf team sits in 10th place Monday at the 54-hole Lady Northern Invitational in French Lick, Ind.
Wisconsin, fresh off a win at the Badger Invitational two weeks ago, shot a 25-over (309-310=619) in the first round, followed by a 26-over par performance in round two. The combined 51-over par has the team 36 shots off the leader, Ohio State's 293-290-583. In second place is Michigan at 591, four strokes ahead of Iowa State.
The tournament, which acts a precursor to the Big Ten Championships next spring, features 9-of-12 Big Ten squads and is played at the site of the conference championship, the Donald Ross Golf Course.
Jessie Gerry turned in the best individual performance for the Badgers Monday, scoring a 7-over par 73-76-149 which tied for 14th place. Also turning in a top-30 performance for the Badgers Monday was Lindsay Danielson, who sits in 28th place at 11-over par (77-76=153).
Current tournament leader, Ohio State’s Kendall Prince, is the only player in the tournament under par with a 2-under 73-67--140. She sits five strokes ahead of Meagan Bauer from Michigan who shot a 72-73-145.
Kris Yoo currently sits in a tie for 32nd place, 14-over par, after two rounds of 78 (156). Behind Yoo is Kimberly Dinh, who is playing her second collegiate tournament. She turned in a +19 performance through two rounds (81-80=161), good for 56th place. Tied with Dinh and playing as an individual is fellow redshirt freshman Dana Voss who turned in an 83 in round one, but rebounded with a 78 in the second round.
Alyssa Elliott currently sits in the 67th position, 25-over (84-84=168).
Teams tee off for the third and final round bgin tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. (ct).
