Wisconsin holds ground, finishes ninth at Windy City Collegiate

­GLEN VIEW, Ill. -- Competing amongst a field featuring a handful of the nation's top teams and players, the Wisconsin women's golf team held their ground on Tuesday at the Windy City Collegiate Classic in Glen View, Ill.

Hosted by Northwestern at the Glen View Golf Course, the 54-hole tournament featured 10 teams ranked in the top 50 of the Golfweek college women's golf rankings, including six top-25 teams.

Ranked 50th in the nation, the Badgers entered the final day of golf in ninth place after collectively shooting a 23-over par 300-299--599 on Monday. UW went on to finish the tournament ninth, finishing Tuesday with an 18-over 306 and carding a final score of 41-over par 300-299-306--905.

No. 6 Arizona took home the team title with its final score of 15-over par 293-289-297--879. No. 2 Washington was edged out, finishing runner-up with a 19-over par 287-293-303--883. Host Northwestern, ranked No. 34, finished in third place with a 20-over par 298-294-292--884.

Earning the individual title was April McCoy of TCU, who began her day tied for seventh but surged to the top of the leader board by shooting a final-day 3-under par and finishing the tournament with a 2-under par 73-72-69--214.

Lindsay Danielson finished her impressive tournament carding a 3-over par 75 in her final round, which brought her tournament total to a 4-over par 73-72-75--220 and 13th place finish.

Following up her impressive 36-hole outing, the senior from Osceola, Wis., carded two birdies and five bogeys in her final day of action and carded just two strokes off her career-low 54-hole total (68-144-218).

Wisconsin's Kris Yoo ended her tournament in a tie for 26th place after shooting a 5-over par 77 and finishing with a final score of 9-over par 75-73-77--225. Aaren Ziegler shot a 13-over par 77-75-77--229 to tie for 40th place and Kimberly Dihn finished in a tie for 52nd place with her 15-over par 75-79-77--231. Alexis Nelson closed out UW scoring with a 29-over par 80-81-84--245 to finish in a tie for 73rd place.

Alyssa Elliott also traveled and competed as an individual with the team placing in a tie of 75th with her 30-over par 81-82-83--246

The Wisconsin women prepare next for the Hoosier Fall Invite, held at Belterra Resort in Cincinnati, Ohio, Oct. 13-14.
