GLEN VIEW, Ill. -- After a two-week break in scheduling, the Wisconsin women’s golf team got back in the swing of things Monday, playing 36 holes of the 54-hole Windy City Collegiate Classic, hosted by Northwestern, at the Glen View Golf Course in Glen View, Ill.

Lindsay Danielson showed no signs of rust, leading the way individually for the Badgers and carding a 1-over par 73-72--145 to conclude her first two rounds in a tie for seventh place. Danielson’s score of 145 through 36 holes ties her season-best from last season and was just one stroke off from tying her personal-best.

The senior shot a balanced first round of golf, putting in four birdies, but also carding five bogeys. The Osceola, Wis., native then followed up with an even-par second round, which included two birdies and two bogeys.

Outdoing Danielson and all individual scorers in the field were Amy Simanton of UC Davis and Lindsey Weaver of Notre Dame. The two battled at the top of the leader board all day and will continue to jostle heading into the final day of competition, after each finished with a 3-under par 141 and tied for first.

The Badgers finished the first day of competition in ninth place as a team, concluding with a combined 23-over par 300-299--599. Washington recorded the best score of all 15 teams in the field, scoring a 4-over par 287-293--580.

Last season’s Windy City Collegiate champion, Oklahoma State, finished day one in a tie for sixth place after shooting a 16-over par 298-294--592.

Three Badgers ended their day in the thick of things. Kris Yoo shot a 4-over par 75-73--148 to tie for 21st, Aaren Ziegler carded an 8-over par 77-75--152 to tie for 40th, and Kimberly Dinh shot a 10-over par 75-79--154 to tie for 54th place.

Alexis Nelson and Alyssa Elliott also competed for Wisconsin, as Nelson finished in a tie for 70th place with her 17-over par 80-81--161 and Alyssa Elliott, playing as an individual, tied for 76th place by shooting a 19-over par 81-82--163.

The Badgers look to finish strong with the final 18 holes of competition on Tuesday. Fans can follow the scoring live on golfstat.com.
