CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Wisconsin women's golf team put together a collective team effort on Sunday to finish the first round of the 2012 fall season just four shots over par and in prime position to compete at the Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall in Charleston, S.C.

The Badgers combined to shoot a four-over 292 and finished in 10th place, after Southern California recorded a three-under 285 to lead all teams. Duke, Virginia and Florida are grouped at the top of the leader board, each recording a two-under 286 to tie for second place.

Leading the way individually for UW was Kris Yoo, who finished her first round in a tie for 13th with a one-under 71. The junior was able to remain consistent the majority of the 18-hole first round, stroking in three birdies, but also ended with a pair of bogeys.

Lindsay Danielson began her season with a little pin seeking, as the senior knocked in an eagle on the par 4, 393-yard hole No. 1 of Yeamans Hall Country Club. In addition, Danielson tallied a total of four birdies through her first round, but went on to finish with a total of seven bogeys, including five on the back nine to end her day tied for 33rd with a one-over 73.

Finishing right with Danielson was familiar face Aaren Ziegler, who also shot a 1-over 73 for Wisconsin. Kimberly Dinh finished her round with a 3-over 75 to tie for 62nd, while Alexis Nelson was tied for 78th with a 4-over 76.

Isabelle Lendl of Florida and Marta Sanz of Auburn jumped out to an early lead after each shot a 5-under 67. Lendl remained quiet through the first nine holes of her first round, but made her way back up the leader board with a strong back nine, carding an eagle on hole 15 and three birdies.

The defending champion LSU Tigers left themselves with work to do, finishing their first round with a combined score of 303 and placing in a tie for 21st amongst the field of 24.

Wisconsin tees off for the second round Monday at 7:50 a.m. (CT). Follow live scoring at golfstat.com.
