ATHENS, Ga.-- The No. 47-ranked Badgers had their best finish in two appearances at the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship in Athens, Ga. In just its second NCAA appearance, UW finished 23rd with the final score of 66-over par 301-309-297-311--1218. That total ranks fourth all-time in school history for 72-hole tournaments.

This was just the second trip to the national championship for the Badger program and the first since 2003, when the team finished 24th with a 1291.

No. 1 Southern California ran away with the team title shooting an even par 288 in the final round for a remarkable 19-under par 284-276-285-288--1133 on the par 72, 6,372-yard University of Georgia course. USC's Annie Park emerged as the national medalist with a 10-under par 70-67-70-71--278.

Duke maintained second place from round three, but moved to 2-over par with 286-289-287-293--1154. Purdue improved to third place for a 21-over par 289-289-295--300--1173.

Junior Kris Yoo had the second-best national finish by a Badger with her 42-over par 75-74-73-77--299, which is three strokes off her 72-hole personal best. Allie Blomquist finished tied for 18th with a 296 when she played as an individual in the 2001 NCAA Championship. Malinda Johnson finished tied for 55th with 310 when the UW team played in the 2003 national event.

Sophomore Aaren Ziegler tied her best score of the week with a 1-over 73 on the final day and improved 33 places by finishing tied for 66th with a career 72-hole best 76-81-73-73--303.

Senior Lindsay Danielson tied for 100th at 14-over 79-75-76-80--310. She concludes her UW career as the all-time leading career scoring champion averaging 75.67 strokes per round over her four-year career.

Sophomore Kimberly Dinh, who led the Badgers after the first round, finished tied for 114th at 73-83-75-83--314. Junior Alexis Nelson tied for 119th with 77-79-79-81--316.

As a team, the 2013 team stroke average of 303.75 (12,150/40) ranks second best behind the 2010 average of 302.93 (9,694 strokes/32 rounds). The team also achieved a school record 40 rounds of play.
