COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The University of Wisconsin women’s golf team concluded play Sundy at the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, as the Badgers earned their second-highest finish of the spring season and finished tied for sixth place. 

Kris Yoo continued to hold pace for Wisconsin, as four Badgers finished in the top 26 individually and the team closed out the 54-hole tournament with a final-round 29-over par on the Scarlet Course at the Ohio State University Golf Club.

Among a field that featured five of the top 50 teams in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, No. 27 Michigan State held on to win the team title after finishing with a 40-over par 308-298-288=904. No. 14 Purdue came runner-up with its 47-over par 310-295-306=911, while No. 30 Northwestern staked a third place finish with a 53-over par 310-297-310=917.

Host team Ohio State came in fourth place at 55-over par 314-301-304=919.

Laura Gonzalez of Purdue came into the final day of play holding the 36-hole lead, then shot a 3-over par 75 over the final 18 holes to close out and earn the individual tournament title at 5-over par 73-73-75=221.

Yoo earned the top individual finish among Badgers, coming in a tie for 11th place with a 15-over par 78-75-78=231. The junior from Schaumburg, Ill., carded a 6-over par 78 through her final 18 holes, recording 3 bogeys through the front nine, then a birdie, two bogeys and a double bogey over her back nine.

With her performance, Yoo earned the sixth top-15 finish of her season. It also marked the fourth top-15 finish in five tournaments for Yoo this spring season alone.

Recording a final-round 78-over par of her own for Wisconsin was Alexis Nelson, who finished the tournament in a tie for 22nd place with her 18-over par 80-76-78=234. The junior from Mason, Ohio, native had an equally tough stretch to close her final round, recording four bogeys and a double bogey.

Lindsay Danielson (80-75-81=236) and Kimberly Dinh (79-77-80=236) each finished in a tie for 26th place and shot 20-over par on the weekend. Abby Busler and Aaren Ziegler also competed for the Badgers, as Busler finished in a tie for 52nd place with a 31-over par 80-83-84=247 and Ziegler in a tie for 60th place with her 35-over par 82-88-81=251.

Wisconsin heads to French Lick, Ind., next week for the 2013 Big Ten Championships, which will be played at the Donald Ross Golf Course.
