JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. -- The University of Wisconsin women’s golf team completed a shortened first day of play in 10th place on Monday at the Briar’s Creek Invitational, as second-round play and the final round will be played out tomorrow.

Competing at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek, the Badgers and the rest of the 18-team field battled through tough course conditions throughout the day, as winds ranged from 25-30 miles an hour and gusts up to 40 miles an hour. As a result, second-round play was suspended at 6:15 p.m. CT with about six holes remaining.

Coastal Carolina, No. 45 East Carolina and No. 23 Notre Dame finished in a three-way tie for first place after each scored a 33-over par in shortened play. Wisconsin’s 49-over par was good for 10th place.

Kris Yoo led the Badgers individually and finished in a tie for 17th place with her 77 through the first round and 9-over par through 12 holes of the second round. The junior from Schaumburg, Ill., ended the first round carding three birdies.

After earning her first-career individual title last weekend in the BYU at Entrada Classic, Kimberly Dinh entered the clubhouse in a tie for 49th place at 15-over par through 11 holes of the second round.

Lindsay Danielson, Aaren Ziegler and Dana Voss each finished the day in a tie for 61st place. Danielson and Ziegler both carded 85 through the first round of play and ended their partial second round with a 16-over par. Voss also held a 16-over par after recording a 78 through her first 18 holes.

The 54-hole tournament will resume with the second round of golf tomorrow beginning at 7:15 a.m. CT. The final round of play will follow thereafter.
