St. George, Utah -- Kimberly Dinh and Kris Yoo finished first and second overall through the first two rounds in the 2013 BYU at Entrada Classic on Monday, as the University of Wisconsin women's golf team built a commanding team lead heading into the final day of competition.
Champions of the 54-hole tournament in 2011, Wisconsin appeared poised to chase down another team title and perhaps claim an individual crown as well. Kimberly Dinh and Kris Yoo finished back-to-back atop the individual leaderboard, as four of the five Badgers competing ended the first day in top-25 positioning.
As a team, the Badgers posted a 13-over par 296-293=589 to build a comfortable 9-stroke lead heading into the final 18 holes of golf on Tuesday. Minnesota finished with a 24-over par 304-296=600 to end the day in second, while host-team BYU rounded out the top three with its 31-over par 292-315=607.
Behind new career low 18-hole (70) and 36-hole totals, Dinh carded a 2-under par 72-70=142, as the sophomore from Midland, Mich., finished with four birdies and just two bogies. Right behind in second place was teammate Yoo, who collected four birdies of her own to go along with two bogies and a double bogey.
Lindsay Danielson put together a 6-over par 74-76=150 through her first two rounds to finish in a tie for ninth place, while Aaren Ziegler is in a tie for 25th place with her 11-over par 79-76=155. Dana Voss tied for 42nd place with a 14-over par 83-75=158.
Competition in the BYU at Entrada Classic concludes on Tuesday as teams begin teeing off the final round with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. (CT). Live stats can be found on golfstat.com and complete recap at UWBadgers.com.
