GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Led by a 3-over par performance from freshman Kimberly Dinh, the Wisconsin women's golf team finished day one of play at the SunTrust Gator Invitational tied for 12th place overall.

The Badgers shot 23 strokes over par through the first 18 holes (303) to finish 19 shots off the pace of tournament leader Alabama at the Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.

Dinh, who shot 73 through the first round, just two strokes off her career-best 71, finished tied for 18th place Friday.

Junior Lindsay Danielson and sophomore Kris Yoo each turned in +6, 76 performances and share a tie for 42nd place with seven other golfers.

Rounding out the team scoring for the Badgers, senior Jessie Gerry finished the first day of competition 8 shots over par, at 78, good for a share of 66th place.

Additionally, senior Ellie Arkin turned in a +15, 85 performances Friday and sits in 91st place.

Behind Alabama are the Georgia Bulldogs in second place at 6 shots over par. Florida State sits in third place, 10 shots over par.

Georgia's Emilie Burger leads all individuals at 3 shots under par. Host Florida's Camilla Hedberg and Flordia State's Maria Salinas sit in second place, both at 2 under par. South Florida's Christina Miller is the only other individual under par through 18 holes at -1.

Teams tee off for the second round Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. CST.
