PEORIA, Ariz.-  The Wisconsin women’s golf team closed out day one of the Westbrook Invitational on Sunday at the Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Ariz., in fourth place thanks to strong individual performances in the first two rounds of play.

The No. 40-ranked Badgers – the hosts of the third annual 54-hole tournament – is one of four teams under par with a 2-under par 286-288--574. No. 22 Oregon sits atop the leaderboard after day one of competition at the par 72, 6,269-yard Vistas Course with a 23-under par 279-274--553.

The Ducks claimed the top scores in both rounds and their second round score of 274 sets a new record for the best all-time 18-hole score at the invitational. The previous best was 277 set by Texas Tech at last year’s tournament.

No. 34 Ohio State is in second place after recording a 17-under par 281-278--559 and No. 53 College of Charleston rounds out the top-three with its 5-under par 286-285--571.

Both Oregon’s 36-hole score of 553 and Ohio State’s 559 shattered the previous all-time 36-hole record of 570 (288-282) set in 2012 by Illinois.

Individually, the Buckeyes’ Jessica Povasnik tallied the top score after 36-holes with a 12-under par 65-67--132. Povasnik had the Westbrook Invitational's first ace with a hole-in-one on the par 3, 163-yard No. 2.

Oregon’s Cathleen Santoso placed second with an 11-under par 70-63--133, while teammate Cassy Isagawa sits in third place with an 8-under par 68-68-136.

All top three competitors broke Westbrook Invitational individual records. The previous all-time 36-hole best was 137, while the previous 18-hole best was 66 (both set in 2012). Seventeen players had red numbers at the close of the day.

Wisconsin is led by Kris Yoo. After closing out the first 18-holes in second place in the 77-person field with a 5-under par 67, Yoo completed round two with a 2-over par 74. The senior is tied for sixth place with a career 36-hole best 3-under par 67-74--141.

Freshman Brooke Ferrell (74-70--144) and junior Aaren Ziegler (69-75--144) are tied for 18th after tallying an even-par 144. The 36-hole total was a career best for both. Ziegler had an eagle 3 on the par 5 hole No. 17.
