MADISON, Wis. - The Badgers (7-1, 0-0) continue their six-game road swing, playing their fifth game in 10 days. UW opens the Big Ten Conference season on Sunday, facing off against reigning league champion Ohio State (8-1, 0-0). Game time is 1 p.m. in a live broadcast on the Big Ten Network.

Here's a brief overview of each team:


  • The Badgers are liking the road this season, going 5-0 away from the Kohl Center. Wisconsin is 3-0 on opponent’s home courts and 2-0 on a neutral court.
  • UW faces its first ranked team this season in No. 3 Ohio State on Sunday. Wisconsin lost to Green Bay on Nov. 24, a team receiving votes in the Associated Press poll. Coach Lisa Stone is 1-5 in Big Ten openers.
  • Wisconsin is off to a 7-1 start for the second straight year. In 2008-09, UW lost its season-opener at South Dakota State before winning its next 10 games.
  • The Badgers have won their last four games, all on the road, their longest winning streak of the season and tying for the second-longest currently among Big Ten teams.
  • Wisconsin is averaging only 15.4 turnovers per game, which leads the Big Ten. The Badgers had only seven turnovers at Milwaukee on Nov. 19, which ties for third on the UW single-game record list.
  • Despite scoring a season-low 53 points vs. N.C. State last Thursday, the Badgers still pulled off the win. Wisconsin held an opponent to under 50 points for the third time this season, including the last two games in a row.
  • Junior Alyssa Karel leads the Badgers with 12.8 points per game while junior Tara Steinbauer leads the team with 6.1 rebounds per game.
  • Freshman Taylor Wurtz led the UW with a career-high 13 points in their win at N.C. State last Thursday.

Ohio State

  • Ohio State suffered its first loss of the season Thursday at No. 11 Duke, 83-67. Jantel Lavender recorded a Cameron Indoor Stadium opponent record with 18 rebounds to go along with 20 points.
  • The Buckeyes are 5-2 under Jim Foster in Big Ten openers.
  • The Buckeyes lead the Big Ten and rank fifth nationally with 86.9 ppg. Ohio State also ranks third in the NCAA in assists (20.4).
  • Ohio State is outscoring opponents, 782-579 - an average margin of victory of +22.6 points.
  •  Jantel Lavender leads the Big Ten and is fifth nationally with 23.8 ppg.
  • Lavender's 41 career double-doubles are the most among active Big Ten players. The Buckeyes are 34-7 overall in her career when she records a double-double. She has four this season, including 20 points and 18 boards at No. 11 Duke Thursday.
  •  Lavender has scored in double figures in all 75 career games - the longest active streak in Division I.
  • Samantha Prahalis leads the Big Ten and is second nationally with 9.8 assists per game this season. She has four games with 10 or more and has at least eight in every game.
  • Prahalis recorded a career-high 14 assists in the win over No. 15 California. She is tied with Lavender with four double-doubles this season.
  • Four of five Ohio State starters are averaging in double-figures, with Tayler Hill averaging 9.7 ppg.
  • As a team, the Buckeyes are second in the Big Ten and eighth nationally in FG percentage (.482).
