MADISON, Wis. - Last weekend was a busy one on the University of Wisconsin campus. A number of different events were going on with Halloween and a Badger football game, but members of the Wisconsin women’s basketball family re-connected with the team’s “Celebrate the Legacy” reunion.
The weekend began Friday as alumni were invited to watch a women’s basketball practice at the Nicholas Johnson Pavilion. Right after practice, everyone migrated to Heritage Hall inside Camp Randall Stadium for a dinner and reception. Highlights dating back to the 1970’s were played during the cocktail hour. Those in attendance also heard speeches from Terry Murawski, Executive Director of the National W Club; Terry Gawlik, Associate AD for Sports Administration; and head women’s basketball coach Lisa Stone.
Saturday, the women’s basketball alumni joined the festivities in the Field House for the Badger Blast Tailgate Party. Alumni were then introduced along with the current Badgers on the field during the football game vs. Purdue.
We caught up with a few former Badgers and asked them what it was like to be back for the reunion weekend. In this video, you can see video interviews with Cathy Spiegel (1977-79), Kris Hallisy (1979-83), Robin Elliott (formerly Threatt, 1988-92), Jan Hornback (1964-66), Ginny Vorwald (1976-80) and Coach Stone. Also, be sure to check out a small photo gallery from the event.
