MADISON, Wis. -
Last Wednesday evening, a women's basketball season ticket holder got a pretty special surprise. No, it wasn't the Publisher's Clearing House, but for any die-hard Badger fan, maybe just as good.
Wisconsin women's basketball players Rae Lin D'Alie, Jade Davis and Tara Steinbauer made a surprise visit to the LaMere residence in Verona. Armed with a video camera and joined by members of the Spirit Squad and Bucky Badger, the team members hand-delivered Karen LaMere's season tickets.
"It was fun to see her reaction," said D'Alie.
In addition to receiving the special delivery, Karen posed for photos, sang some Badger cheers and even had the opportunity to show off her library which was decked out with Badger memorabilia.
The LaMere's have been season ticket holders for over 15 years dating back to days in the UW Field House and were randomly selected to receive the personal delivery. They regularly attended games as family, but with their daughters grown up and out of the house, Karen and her husband still make the trip to the Kohl Center.
"Initially, it was an inexpensive way to allow the kids to have fun, but now we actually enjoy it because it is as way to get out. And, we enjoy the women's games because it is a neat atmosphere," said LaMere.
"This was fun," said D'Alie. "It's an opportunity for us to show our appreciation to our season ticket holders. When we have big crowds at games, it definitely impacts our success on the court."
With tip-off for the new campaign just week's away, fans can still purchase Wisconsin women's basketball season tickets. In addition, single game and package tickets are currently on sale.
