MADISON, Wis. - A pair of road games bookends the Wisconsin women's basketball team's 2013 Big Ten Conference schedule, announced Friday by the league. The Badgers open the season with a road trip to Nebraska on Jan. 2 and wrap up league play on the road at Michigan State on March 3.

Following its trip to Nebraska, Wisconsin kicks off the Big Ten season at the Kohl Center when it hosts Minnesota and Iowa, Jan. 6 and 10, respectively.

• Wisconsin returns two of the most improved scorers in the Big Ten. Based on scoring averages from 2010-11, Taylor Wurtz (+7.8 ppg/3rd) and Morgan Paige (+6.7/6th) ranked among the most improved players in the conference in 2011-12.
Taylor Wurtz finished the year sixth in Big Ten scoring with 16.0 points per game and 11th in rebounding, averaging 7.6 rebounds per game.
• The Badgers finished the 2012 Big Ten season with a 5-11 record. Penn State claimed the regular season title with a 13-3 league record.

The Badgers return to the road for two games -- at Michigan Jan. 13 and at Penn State Jan. 17 - before hosting Ohio State on Jan. 20.

A mid-week road trip to Iowa on Jan. 24 and a home game against Penn State on Jan. 31 close out the month.

February begins and ends with games at the Kohl Center. On Feb.3, Illinois visits Madison before Indiana makes the trip to the Kohl Center on Feb. 10. Following their game against Purdue on Feb. 14, the Badgers close out the Big Ten home schedule against Nebraska on Feb. 28.

Wisconsin travels to Ohio State on Feb. 7, Illinois on Feb. 18 and visits Northwestern on Feb. 23.

The conference season ends on the road at Michigan State on March 3.

The Big Ten tournament will be held March 7-10 at the Sears Center Arena in Rosemont, Ill.

The conference is entering into the first year of a four-year agreement that will rotate the Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament between Hoffman Estates and Indianapolis. The 2013 and 2015 postseason tournaments will be contested at the Sears Centre Arena, while the 2014 and 2016 events will be staged at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
