MADISON, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin women’s basketball team will host Boston College in the seventh-annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Thursday, Dec. 5 in the Kohl Center, the Big Ten Conference and ACC Conference announced today.

“We’re excited to play Boston College again,” said UW head coach Bobbie Kelsey. “They are returning four starters so it will be interesting to see how they’ve developed over the last two years. They’re a different team, but so are we so it will be a very competitive game.

“We look forward to hosting them and getting a big crowd. Playing against another BCS-conference school will give us a good feeling of where we are early in the season.”

The Badgers are 3-3 all-time in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and face the Eagles for the second time. Wisconsin downed BC 58-50 in the Kohl Center on Nov. 11, 2011, during Kelsey’s first season.

The Eagles were 12-19 last season under first-year head coach Erik Johnson. Boston College tied for ninth in the ACC standings with a 5-13 mark. Johnson returns four starters, including his top returning scorer in Kristen Doherty. The 5-11 forward averaged 12.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game as a junior. Katie Zenevitch, a 6-3 forward, added 12.1 points per game and was the Eagles’ top rebounder, averaging 6.6 per game, as a junior.

Wisconsin is 1-1 all-time against the Eagles with BC winning the first meeting 76-60 in Boston in 2003.
