MADISON, Wis. – Junior Morgan Paige has been named third-team All-Big Ten by league coaches and media while sophomore Jacki Gulczynski was an honorable mention pick on both teams. The Big Ten Conference office released both teams today.
Paige, a 5-9 guard, has been the Badgers’ leading scorer all season, ranking sixth in the Big Ten with 16.1 points per game. She has scored in double figures in 25-of-29 games this season, including eight games with 20-or-more points. The Marion, Iowa, native scored a career-high 33 points in leading Wisconsin to an upset of No. 7 Penn State on Jan. 31. Paige has been UW’s leading scorer in 18 games this season.
Paige is also the team’s top 3-point shooter, hitting 54-of-200 from deep, and has taken the most free throws on the squad, shooting 114-of-146 for 78.1 percent.
Gulczynski, a 6-1 forward, is one of only three sophomores on the coaches’ honor squad. She ranks second on the team with 12.6 points per game with her average going up to 14.6 points per game in Big Ten play. The Carol Stream, Ill., native has scored in double figures in 21 games this season, leading the Badgers in scoring in seven games. Gulczynski scored a career-high 32 points at Ohio State on Feb. 7.
Gulczynski is also one of the team’s top rebounders, averaging 5.9 boards per game. She has double-figure rebounds in six games this season, including a career-high 15 against the Buckeyes. Gulczynski also has a team-leading four double-doubles this season.
Gulczynski was also named the team’s Sportsmanship Award recipient for displaying positive sportsmanship. One member of each varsity sports team on every campus is chosen by his or her institution as a Sportsmanship Award honoree.
