Madison, Wis. - Join the Wisconsin women’s basketball team as they celebrate American Heart Month throughout February. There are a number of ways Badger fans can get active and get involved with this promotion which culminates at the women’s basketball game vs. Michigan on Feb. 19 at 12:30 p.m. CT at the Kohl Center.

In order to promote a healthier community, Badger fans are being challenged to walk one million steps (the distance from Ann Arbor, Mich. to Madison) from Feb. 1 through game day Feb. 19. Collectively, if Badger fans meet the goal, Coca Cola and Stop-N-Go will make a $1,000 donation to the Madison chapter of the American Heart Association. Badger fans can score a voucher for a free pair of tickets to the Feb. 19 game by purchasing two 20-ounce bottles of any Coca Cola product at any Wisconsin Stop-N-Go location.

Fans interested in participating in the challenge are being asked to use official Badger pedometers to track their progress. All current Wisconsin women’s basketball season ticket holders will be mailed a pedometer. Through a special online promotional code, non-season ticket holders can purchase four general admission tickets for the Feb. 19 game for $24 and receive four Badger pedometers for free. Simply click here and enter promotional code PEDOMETER.

The guidelines for recommended exercise are 10,000 steps per day, or 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week (150 minutes a week).

“Each hour a person exercises translates into two added hours of life expectancy,” says Brittany Lee of the American Heart Association.

Be active and wear your pedometer in the days leading up to the game on February 19. Make sure your steps are counted toward the one million step goal. Bring your pedometer with you to the game and show your step total at one of two reporting kiosks at the Kohl Center. The reporting kiosks will be located near sections 117 and 103.

Additionally, the women’s basketball team will be participating in the challenge as well. Coach Stone and her team will wear pedometers while performing their daily activities.

“Our entire team is looking forward to actively participating in the American Heart Month Challenge. Leading an active lifestyle is fun and provides a lot of positive health benefits. It is my hope all Badger fans will eagerly participate so we all can collectively reach one million steps,” says head coach Lisa Stone.

Guess how many steps the team takes and you could win a team autographed basketball and a pair of women’s basketball season tickets for next year. Simply fill out and submit the contest form to register your guess.

The Badgers are currently tied for first in the Big Ten with a 7-2 mark and faces 11th-ranked Michigan State on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Kohl Center.
