Wisconsin vs. UIC
Dec. 21, 2013
UW Field House - Madison, Wis.

Head coach Bobbie Kelsey

On what happened during the play that lead to UIC’s 3-pointer by the Flames’ Rachel Story:
“I should have made a little bit of an adjustment in the zone. We had been doing it the whole game one way and I didn’t tell Taylor (Wurtz) to stay on that side. That was my fault. She did exactly what she was supposed to do, but you hope they recognize it even if I don’t tell them, but again, that’s on coach, not on her. (Story) was left open and shouldn’t have been. She was the best player on the floor, we shouldn’t have left her open.”

On the Badgers’ leaving points on the floor during tonight’s game:
“We just couldn’t buy a bunny around the basket. Just point-blank range shots and for whatever reason, they’re just not going. It’s not for lack of effort or lack of trying, but we have to finish. I just told them, ‘you have to concentrate, put it up on the backboard a different way maybe and just try to figure it out. Don’t overthink it, because you don’t want kids to be so conscious of it that they start missing just because they’re thinking of missing and not finishing. Maybe we’ll look at it and see how (Michala Johnson) is finishing it, because that does play a factor.”

On the Badgers coming back from a 9-point deficit and not quitting:
“I don’t expect this team to quit, but the name of the game is you have to make buckets when you need them. We didn’t do that and they did, credit them. They hit some big free throws, hit some big shots. It was a well-fought game we just came out on the low end of it.”

On the fan’s support and how they helped the Badgers get back in to the game in the second half:
“The fans were great. They were into it the whole way. We appreciate that. We were hoping some of that volleyball magic would rub off on us, but credit UIC. They did what they needed to do to come in here and beat us.”
