Final Stats

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- It all came down to one play Saturday night at the Al McGuire Center in Milwaukee. With the game tied and 26 seconds left on the clock, Wisconsin turned to senior Morgan Paige to win the game and she delivered with a last-second layup to lead the Badgers to a 62-60 victory over Marquette.

A Marquette (6-2) free throw tied the game at 60-60 with 26 seconds on the clock. A miss on the second free throw was rebounded by the Golden Eagles, but Katherine Plouffe's tip-in bounced out and Taylor Wurtz was there for the rebound.

Wisconsin (6-2) called a timeout with 15 seconds on the clock, setting the stage for one last play. Paige was given the ball on the inbound and decided to take matters into her own hands. A defensive switch by the Golden Eagles gave Paige the opportunity she needed to drive the lane and score the game-winner.

 Fast Facts
• Paige scores game-winner on last-second layup
• Johnson posts double-double with 14 points, 12 boards
• Badgers claim second-straight win in I-94 rivalry

Poor shooting by both teams kept the game close for the entire 40 minutes. The Badgers finished the night shooting just 39.3 percent (24-of-61) from the floor, going 4-of-15 (26.7 percent) from 3-point range. Wisconsin netted just one 3-pointer in the first half.

Marquette didn't fare any better, shooting just 34.7 percent (25-of-72), including a 4-of-19 (21.1 percent) performance beyond the arc.

Wisconsin finished the night 10-of-14 (71.4 percent) from the line, while MU went 6-of-11 (54.5 percent).

MU won the battle on the boards, grabbing 47 rebounds compared to the Badgers' 43. Wisconsin was also able to overcome the Golden Eagles' 20 offensive rebounds.

Following a game that saw big numbers from the bench, Wisconsin didn't need any help beyond its starting five to secure its second-consecutive win over its I-94 rivals.

Paige finished the night with 16 points, while Michala Johnson posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Wurtz chipped in 13 points and Dakota Whyte added 12.

Milwaukee was led by Plouffe's 16 points and 10 rebounds. Katie Young added 11.

Wisconsin continues action on Tuesday when it hosts Gonzaga at the Kohl Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
