The Badgers held Purdue to just 20 points in the first half, the second-lowest first-half total for the Boilermakers this season. Purdue hit just 25.7 percent (9-35) of its shots in the first period.
Purdue outscored Wisconsin 38-20 in the second half as the Boilermakers shot 50 percent (13-26) from the field in the second period.
Wisconsin tied a season high with nine blocks, its second-straight game with nine blocks after also tallying nine stuffs against Indiana on Feb. 10.
UW struggled at the free throw line, recording it lowest percentage since hitting just 54.5 percent against Penn State on Jan. 31. Wisconsin shot just 66.7 percent (10-15) from the line against the Boilermakers.
Purdue tied an opponent season low with just four steals and one block.
Junior Cassie Rochel tallied a career high seven blocks. Her previous best was five blocks in three games earlier this season with the most recent being at Miami on Dec. 29
Rochel also pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds, her second-straight game with double-digit rebounds and her seventh of the season. She just missed her second-straight double-double as she had nine points.
Jacki Gulczynski scored in double figures for the 18th straight game. The 6-1 forward led the Badgers with 19 points on 6-10 (.600) shooting, including 2-3 (.667) from 3-point range.
After 12 straight games of playing 39 or more minutes, Gulczynski played only 35 minutes after picking up her fourth foul with 10:51 left in the game. It was her fewest minutes since playing 34 minutes vs. Delaware State on Dec. 28.
Junior Morgan Paige struggled to score tonight, tallying only four points, a season-low for the Badgers’ leading scorer. The 5-9 guard was 1-11 (.091) from the field.
Freshman Nicole Bauman had her best game since scoring 15 points against Iowa on Jan. 10. The 5-10 guard finished second on the team with 14 points, her sixth game this season with 10-or-more points. Bauman tied her career high by making four 3 pointers, going 4-5 (.800) from deep. She was also 2-2 from the free throw line and added four rebounds.
Purdue’s KK Houser tied an opponent season high by making five 3 pointers. The guard was 5-9 (.555) from deep and led all scorers with 20 points.
