Open Tournament Schedule

MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin wrestling team will send five attached wrestlers in four different weight classes and nine unattached wrestlers to the Stevens Point Open on Saturday, Nov. 5, in Stevens Point, Wis. The open tournament begins at 7 a.m. and competition ends around 7 p.m.

The attached wrestlers include redshirt freshmen Alex Yde (157 lbs.), Frank Cousins (174 lbs.), Dylan Iczkowski (174 lbs.), Sebastien Levin (197 lbs.), and redshirt sophomore Scott Liegel (165 lbs.).

In his redshirt season, Yde competed at 165 lbs., where he went 9-10 in open tournaments. This season, Yde wrestled twice in Wisconsin’s annual Intra-Squad Scrimmage, falling to both of his opponents at 149 lbs. and 157 lbs.

Cousins competed at both 165 lbs. and 174 lbs. in his redshirt season, compiling a 23-7 overall record in open tournaments. Cousin’s honors include placing fourth at the Loras Open at 165 lbs. and winning the 174 lbs. title at last year’s Dan Gable Open.

Iczkowski took a redshirt season last year, amassing a 10-6 record in open tournaments at 174 lbs. Iczkowski placed fifth at the Loras Open last season and went 3-1 at the 2010 Stevens Point Open.

Levin also changes weight classes this season, posting a 10-14 record in open tournaments last year at heavyweight.

As the lone sophomore competing this weekend, Liegel will see his first action on the mat as a Badger wrestler at the Stevens Point Open.
