MADISON, Wis. -- Former UW wrestler, and two-time All-American, Trevor Brandvold, who served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Badgers during the 2011-12 season, has been named an assistant coach, head coach Barry Davis announced today

“Watching Trevor last year as a volunteer coach, he made big strides and really developed,” Davis said. “I watched the way he worked with student-athletes and recruits and knew he was the best candidate for the job.

“I feel he is ready to take the next step and be an assistant in the room. He knows the Wisconsin wrestling program.”

Brandvold was a standout during his time on the mat for the Badgers from 2006-2011. He was a four-time NCAA qualifier and a two-time All-American at 197 lbs., taking sixth place at the 2010 NCAA Tournament in Omaha, Neb., and fourth place at the 2011 tournament in Philadelphia. Brandvold was also a two-time Big Ten champion, earning conference crowns in 2010 and 2011.

Brandvold finished his UW career with an 82-31 record.

“It’s a dream come true,” Brandvold said. “I’m really excited for the good things we have going on at Wisconsin and the things we have in store for us in the future.
