MADISON, Wis. -- A two-match sweep over Mitch Bengtson in the Greco-Roman championships series at the FILA Junior World Team Trials Saturday night qualified Wisconsin’s Jesse Thielke for his fourth straight FILA Junior World Team.

Thielke, wrestling at 60 kg/132 lbs., won the first match, 1-0, 1-0 and the second match, 2-0, 4-0, to advance to the FILA Junior World Championships on Sept. 4-9 in Pattaya, Thailand.

The Germantown, Wis., native is looking for his first Junior World medal. He is coming off a strong year at the Senior level, where he placed fourth at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Thielke has been training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and will join the Badgers in the fall.

In the Freestyle championship series, Connor Medbery earned the right to challenge Austin Marsden at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. after winning the challenge tournament. Medbery defeated Daniel Miller by decision, 2-1, 1-1, to qualify for the championship series but was defeated by Marsden in two-straight matches. 

Also wrestling in the challenge tournament, Matthew Kelliher lost a 7-0, 1-0, decision to Earl Hall in the semifinals of the Freestyle challenge tournament at 60 kg/132 lbs.
