Field events will begin at noon Saturday and running events will start at 1p.m. In addition, an exhibition discus event will be held on the turf field inside the adjacent McClain Center beginning at 5 p.m. Friday. Admission to the meet is free.

The Badgers, fresh off their 2012 Big Ten outdoor championship at the McClimon Complex, will try to carry their momentum and success towards a strong indoor campaign.

Wisconsin returns four first-team All-Americans from last year, including senior Japheth Cato, who finished as the NCAA runner-up in the heptathlon.

There will be no heptathlon this weekend, but Cato will still be a busy man. He’s scheduled to compete in the 60 hurdles, long jump, high jump and pole vault as warm-ups for his upcoming slate of multi-event competitions.

Outdoors, senior Rob Finnerty (1500 meters), senior Elliot Krause (10,000 meters) and junior Mohammed Ahmed (5000 meters) each earned All-America recognition.

The Badgers also return six second-team All-Americans from last season, including Cato in the decathlon, junior Dan Block in the discus and sophomore Austin Mudd in the 800 meters. Mudd, junior Alex Hatz, senior Zach Mellon and sophomore Aaron Thompson also claimed the honor indoors in the distance medley relay.

Among that group, only Thompson will compete this weekend, running in the 200 meters and as part of UW’s 4x400-meter relay team.

As with each of the Badgers’ home meets, live results from the Badger Track Classic will be available at UWBadgers.com.
