TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The No. 7 Wisconsin men’s track and field team was on the track again Saturday at the John Mitchell Alabama Relays in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The Badgers completed their first outdoor meet of the season, but inclement weather kept a number of events from being completed.

Junior Japheth Cato, fresh off a runner-up finish in the heptathlon at the NCAA indoor championships in which he totaled a career-best 6,165 points, placed fifth in the 110 hurdles by crossing the finish line in 14.03 seconds.

Sophomore teammate Matt Widule finished 10th in the event, clocking in at 14.57.

Off the track, a quartet of Badgers competed in the discus. Sophomore Alex Thompson had the best throw for Wisconsin, finishing 10th with a distance of 163 feet, 9 inches.

Junior Danny Block threw 159-7 to take 11th, while sophomore Scott Erickson claimed 12th with a mark of 156-10.

Redshirt freshman Andrew Brekke finished 14th with a throw of 156-0.

The Badgers stay on the road this week to train through UW’s spring break, with Wisconsin set to compete again next weekend at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. A number of Badgers distance runners also will head to Palo Alto, Calif., to compete in the Stanford Invitational.
