The Wisconsin mens doubles team of Jordan Raemisch (Middleton, Wis.) and Mark Weinig (Aurora, Colo.) advanced yesterday in the doubles main draw of the 2004 Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional Championships at the Varsity Tennis Center, in Ann Arbor, Mich. The pair defeated Northern Illinoiss Ford and Tate, 8-5.
UW also had two other doubles teams competing that day. The brother tandem of Alex and Lachezar Kasarov( Burgas, Bulgaria)were unable to advance past Indianas M. McCarthy and R. McCarthy. The Hoosier pair won the match 8-3.
Wisconsins freshman duo of Jeremy Sonkin (Wheaton, Ill.) and Elliott Bisnow (Bethseda, Md.) lost as well, as Indianas Recht and Stone defeated the Badgers, 8-5. Bisnow also competed in the second round of the qualifying singles on Friday, but fell to Josef Fischer of Michigan, 6-3, 6-0.
