On Monday, the fifth and final day of the ITA Midwest Regional in Minneapolis, Minn., the University of Wisconsin mens tennis team still had one doubles team left competing. Unfortunately, their run toward the championship came to an end in the semifinals.
The team of senior Jeremy Sonkin (Wheaton, Ill.) and sophomore Luke Rassow-Kantor (Westport, Conn.) advanced the furthest of the four teams representing Wisconsin. In the tournaments semifinals, the duo faced Jason Jung and Mike Scroczynski of Michigan. It was a tight match, but the pair from Michigan proved victorious. Jung and Scroczynski advanced with an 8-6 victory.
The University of Wisconsin mens tennis team returns to action Oct. 26-28 when they travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. for the WMU/Vredevelt Invite at the West Hills Athletic Club.
