The Badgers continued their play in the ITA Midwest Region Championships on Friday. The qualifying round for the singles main draw concluded, while play in the doubles competition began.
The only Badger still competing in the qualifying rounds was sophomore Peter Marrack. Coming off back-to-back wins on Thursday, Marrack was looking for one more to advance to the main draw. However, Marrack was defeated by Minnesotas Julian Dehn in straight sets 6-4, 6-1.
Friday also marked the beginning of the doubles tournament, with eight Badgers participating on four teams. The team of Moritz Baumann and Marek Michalicka played very strongly, as they went undefeated on the day. In their first match, the team defeated Xaviers Marc Pretorius and Brian Starr 8-2, and in their second, defeated Pjotrs Necajevs and Dustin Goldenberg of Detroit 8-1. The team of Peter Marrack and Michael Dierberger defeated Eric Ramos and Slavko Bijelica of Purdue in their first match 9-7. However, the duo was defeated in their second match by Ohio States Bryan Koniecko and Steven Moneke, 8-2. Michael Muskievicz teamed up with Luke Rassow-Kantor, as they defeated Toledos Knot Likitkimchorn and Jared Miller 8-4. Although they couldnt continue their run, as they fell to Sumit Gupta and Viktor Maksimcuk of Louisville 8-6. Varun Chari and Gian Hodgson were the only team to not make it past the first round, as they were defeated by Butlers Chris Herron and Bryce Warren 8-2.
