TULSA, Okla. -- Wisconsin juniors Billy Bertha and Alex Kostanov both competed in the singles and doubles qualifying draw for the 2011 ITA All-American Tennis Championships, Oct. 3-5.
Both Bertha and Kostanov fell in their opening rounds of singles play on Monday.
Bertha lost to Maryland's Maros Horny, the second seed in the qualifying draw, 6-3, 6-1. Kostanov fell in two sets 6-4, 6-2 to William & Mary's Jamie Whiteford, who qualified for the tournament through the prequalifying draw.
On Tuesday, Bertha and Kostanov played Temple's Filip Rams and Kacper Rams in their opening round of doubles qualifications. Bertha and Kostanov made easy work of the two by winning the doubles match, 8-3.
In their next doubles match Bertha and Kostanov lost to Oklahoma's Tsvetan Mihov and Peerakit Siributwong, 8-4.
The matches this week have provided both Badgers with valuable experience, against the best players in the country, moving forward into the spring season.
The Badgers will be back in action for the ITA Midwest Regional, Oct. 13-18, in Columbus, Ohio.
