The University of Wisconsin mens tennis team had one singles player and one doubles team still alive entering play Tuesday at the ITA Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championship. However, neither was able to advance to the next round and Wisconsins run at the tournament came to an end Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Nolan Polley (Lexington, Ky.), one of three Badgers competing in the tournament, was the only player to advance past the first round in singles play. Coming off a tough three-set win in round one, Polley was unable to continue his stellar play as he was eliminated in round two. Polley squared off against Thomas Liversage of San Diego. Liversage promptly swept Polley in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
Following his singles match, Polley paired up with sophomore Moritz Baumann (Inzlingen, Germany) to form Wisconsins doubles team. The duo was eliminated in the first round by Floridas Jeff Dadamo-Johnny Hamui by a score of 8-5.
Wisconsins mens tennis team returns to action Friday, October 5 as it heads to Bradenton, Fla. to compete in the Treibly College Challenge.
