The University of Wisconsin Mens tennis team competed in its second day of the 2004 fall season in Lincoln, Neb. Saturday as Felipe Bellido, Jeremy Sonkin, Jordan Raemisch, and Mike Goodman all earned match victories.
Badger freshmen Felipe Bellido and Jeremy Sonkin led the Badgers on day two as Bellido (Lima, Peru) won a team high for the day, two matches. Bellido defeated Minnesotas Sion Wilkins in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 and then took his second match from Drakes Jonathan Tishler 6-3, 3-7, 11-9. Wheaton, Ill., native Jeremy Sonkin cruised to victory over Drakes Sergi Vila in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, but fell in his earlier match to Minnesotas D.J. Geatz 6-3, 6-4.
Also in competition against Minnesota was junior Jordan Raemisch (Middleton, Wis.) as he defeated Adrien Debreyne 6-4, (ret.) Raemisch was unable to keep up the momentum however, as he fell in his second match 6-2, 5-7, 10-4.
Sophomore Mike Goodman (Denver, Colo.) went 1-1 on the day as he was defeated in his first match against Minnesotas Chi Pham 7-6, 6-3. However, in his second match Goodman prevailed with a 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 victory against Drakes Chris Lueth.
Additionally, Wisconsin and Iowa agreed to not contest their scheduled match.
The Badgers take to courts again tomorrow for their final day at the Nebraska Invitational.
