MADISON, Wis. -- A fall season full of invitationals and tournaments will help prepare the Wisconsin men’s tennis team for a 2013 campaign that includes 18 home matches and a tough Big Ten Conference schedule.

“It is great that we have been able to put together a strong non-conference and conference schedule,” said head coach Greg Van Emburgh. “It’s imperative for our program to continue to have success with the strength of schedule we have in place.”

The Badgers’ fall season begins on Sept. 14 at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. Wisconsin will spend weekends at the ITA All-American Championships (Sept. 29-30), ITA Midwest Regional (Oct. 18-21) and Wildcat Invite (Oct. 26-28) before closing out the autumn by hosting the Big Ten Singles Tournament Nov. 2-5.

The 2013 portion gets underway on Jan. 26 in Madison with a pair of matches. UW’s home campaign continues Feb. 2 against Illinois-Chicago and UW-Whitewater.

UC-Irvine makes a trip to Madison on Feb. 8 and Clemson visits on Feb. 10.

The Badgers host in-state rival Marquette on Feb. 20, before kicking off Big Ten play at home against Minnesota on Feb. 23.

“In past years the league has shown that it is one of the premier conferences in the country,” continued Van Emburgh. “We can see that by consistently having teams ranked nationally and also qualifying for NCAA’s.”

The month of March starts with a visit from Notre Dame (March 3). Green Bay and Western Illinois make the trip to Madison on March 9 and the Badgers close out their 12-game home stand with a visit from South Florida on March 16.

The first road match of the 2013 season takes the Badgers to Michigan on March 23, followed by a trip to Michigan State on March 24.

The Badgers will spend spring break in North Carolina, playing NC State on March. 26 and UNC-Greensboro on March 27.

Big Ten action heats up on March 29 when Illinois travels to Madison and continues on March 31 when Wisconsin hosts Northwestern.

A weekend on the road against Ohio State (April 5) and Penn State (April 7) is followed by a weekend series at home against Purdue (April 12) and Indiana (April 14).

Wisconsin takes a trip to Iowa on April 19 before closing out the regular season in Madison on April 21 against Nebraska.

The 2013 Big Ten tournament will be held April 25-28 in Columbus, Ohio.
